For more than two decades, Derek Collamati has dedicated his career to advancing nonprofit and community causes through strategic development, fundraising, and partnerships.
For the past decade, Derek has served as Director of Development & Strategic Partnerships for the City of Central Falls, Rhode Island, where his efforts helped transform the city from bankruptcy into one of the state’s greatest comeback stories. He has raised more than $45 million from local and national foundations, federal agencies, individual donors, special events and more, fueling projects such as the $3.8 million Macomber Stadium Athletic Complex, the $13 million “El Centro” Community Center and multiple affordable housing initiatives. His leadership has also secured millions for public safety, education and economic development.
As Director of Development at The Learning Community Charter School, he more than doubled annual philanthropic support and expanded public and private partnerships, while elevating the school’s national profile with strategically leveraging coverage in the New York Times, Washington Post, and MSNBC.
Through his consulting firm, DMC Consulting, LLC, Derek continues to support mission-driven organizations across healthcare, education, housing, workforce development, and social services. Notable recent successes include securing $500,000 in grants for the Rhode Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, millions in Congressionally Directed Spending investments and leading RIPTA’s $5 million federal Safe Streets for All award.
